A little less than a year ago my husband and I adopted a (mostly) shih tzu from yall. At the time his name was Bluff. We changed it to Boomer. We cannot thank you enough for providing him to our family!
The entire process, from adopting him to living with him was great. We have another dog who is very particular on what dogs she likes. For this reason, we decided to take her “speed dating.” My mom stayed outside with her while I went inside and met the available dogs. The workers were great. They did a great job pointing out potential fits as well as discouraging others when they knew the dog would not do best sharing a home with a hyper terrier. Our only criteria was that the dog be young and small since our terrier was about 1 year old and we didnt want her wearing out an older dog. I think I looked at 10 dogs easily, and took 6 of them out to meet our first dog. None of those “speed dates” seemed to work, although a couple might have with more time to introduce. Again, the workers were incredibly helpful during all of this and were more than happy to discuss the dogs and help me get them in and out of cages. Just as we were about to leave, a fluffy little mop of a dog was being carried in by his foster family late to the event. For my dog and the foster dog, it was love at first sight! We actually had to split them up on the car ride home because they kept playing so much that we were afraid in a moving car they would get hurt!
Nearly a year later, the two dogs are completely inseparable. They play literally all day long. Both my husband and I have had dogs our entire lives, and we have never seen a pair so bonded. Boomer is a little linebacker and is always trying to get Annie (our other dog) to play with him. We call him our little alien. He is quite odd. His favorite thing to do is just sit and stare at things. The first thing I see every morning when I wake up is this odd little dog sitting next to me just staring at my face waiting for me to wake up. He is absolutely convinced that staring at a food bowl makes food appear, and that staring at a door gets him either inside or outside. He is the sweetest dog and he goes completely limp when he falls asleep in your lap on his back.
Thanks again for the wonderful dog!
